Jang Clean Seeder

"Jang Clean Seeder is a South Korean planting tool for many small seeds.

Extremely versatile with a multitude of quick-change rollers available for many different seed sizes and spacings, it will accurately singulate very small raw seed to medium-size and pelleted seed. Can also provide a controlled flow rate of some larger seeds such as corn, beans, and cucumbers. Transparent plastic 1-qt. hopper makes it easy to see remaining seed at all times - no running out in the middle of a row, and the quick-release is convenient for emptying and saving remaining seed as well as changing rollers.

Functions even with minimal seed in the hopper. Seed size gauge inside hopper lid for quick roller selection. Planting depth is controlled by plow height, and adjusts with a single screw. Soil scrape plate covers the seed; rear wheel firms the bed.

Jacob Springs Farm

Jacob Springs Farm has a JP-3 model with the following wheels.

• 1 N-6: 6 large scoops
• 3 MJ-12: 12 round, deep holes, 15/64" (6mm) in diameter. Possible spacings 1-5" apart.
• 1 X-12: 12 round holes, 5/32" (4mm) in diameter. Possible spacings 1-5" apart.
• 2 Y-12: 12 round holes, 9/64" (3.5mm) in diameter. Possible spacings 1-5" apart.

MJ-12

For beets, cilantro, spinach, swiss chard, and pelleted carrots with #11.5 size mini pellet.

12 extra-deep round holes, 15/64" (6mm) in diameter (same diameter as MM rollers, but deeper). Possible spacings (depending on seeder sprocket combination) from 1-5" apart. Seed rollers have slots or holes to cup seeds, allowing accurate singulation of very small to medium size raw seeds or pelleted seeds, and are compatible with even some larger seeds. Made of a special anti-abrasion plastic to prevent buildup of static electricity.

Trial data: Will singulate the following raw seeded varieties: Touchstone Gold (beet); Santo (cilantro), Red Cardinal (spinach); and Fordhook Giant (Swiss chard). Will also singulate the following pelleted varieties: Napoli*, Bolero*, and Mokum* (carrot). *Remove felt spring for best results with these varieties

Note: Pelleted seed sizings generally refer to the # of sixty-fourths in inches. (e.g.: #13 pelleted seed is 13/64" in diameter).

N-6

Six large scoup-like slots. For corn, beans, or other large seeds (trial to check before planting) Possible spacings (depending on seeder sprocket combination) from 4-10" apart. Seed rollers have slots or holes to cup seeds, allowing accurate singulation of very small to medium size raw seeds or pelleted seeds, and are compatible with even some larger seeds. Made of a special anti-abrasion plastic to prevent build-up of static electricity. NOTE: Will not singulate, but will allow a controlled metering of bean seeds (one to three at a time, depending on seed size).

X-12

12 round holes, 5/32" (4mm) in diameter. Possible spacings (depending on seeder sprocket combination) from 1-5" apart. Seed rollers have slots or holes to cup seeds, allowing accurate singulation of very small to medium size raw seeds or pelleted seeds, and are compatible with even some larger seeds. Compatible with but won't singulate the following raw-seeded varitieties: White Spear (bunching onion); Skyphos, Panisse, Breen, Five-Star Greenhouse Mix, Mottistone, Green Forest, Salad Bowl, Rouge D'Hiver, All Lettuce Mix, Allstar Gourmet Lettuce Mix, Adriana, Encore Lettuce Mix, Oscarde, Tropicana, Ridgeline, Red Cash, Green Star, Bambi, Flashy Trout Back, Cherokee, Teide, Australe, Wildfire Lettuce Mix, Red Cross, Firecracker, Jericho, Nevada, Winter Density, and Vulcan (lettuce); and Picador (shallot). *Remove felt spring for best results with these varieties.

Y-12

For Asian greens, broccoli, onions, cauliflower, dill, greens, and raw-seeded carrots.

12 round holes, 9/64" (3.5mm) in diameter. Possible spacings (depending on seeder sprocket combination) from 1-5" apart. Seed rollers have slots or holes to cup seeds, allowing accurate singulation of very small to medium size raw seeds or pelleted seeds, and are compatible with even some larger seeds. Made of a special anti-abrasion plastic to prevent buildup of static electricity.

Trial data: Will singulate the following raw-seeded varieties: Shungiku (Asian greens); Green Magic (broccoli); Guardsman (bunching onion); Snow Crown, Cheddar, and Veronica (cauliflower); and *Sierra Blanca (onion). Compatible with but won't singulate the following raw-seeded varitieties: Evergreen Hardy White (bunching onion); Napoli, Nelson, Bolero, and Mokum (carrot); Fernleaf (dill); and Persian Cress (greens). *Remove felt spring for best results with these varieties.
